AISE Policy on the Recognition of prior learning

Non-Engineering Applicants wanting to apply for professional registration, but not having the required qualifications can follow one of two routes.

RPL Assessment

The assessment of past experience and vocational learning are done by the quantitative evaluation of work experience and vocational learning. This two-pronged approach allows a person to be awarded the required number of credits based on a proliferation of short courses provided the courses are summarized at the same NVQ level and registered as a credit bearing course on the applicable Qualifications framework. Credits are awarded per NVQ level and not in total.

120 credits at each level is required to complete a total of 360 credits.

12 credits are applied to each continuous work year and is subject to a performance review report from all past employers within a three year period preceding application date.
